Hi Stephen, First of all, I am really sorry you are still dealing with Match.com and their unethical ways. I am still receiving emails for Match too, even though I have canceled my account many months ago. I scam every email they send me, but they send new emails form alternate email addresses. Perhaps you will have better luck then me, if call them. I am seriously thinking of contacting Better Business Bureau to see if that helps. I know that it looks bad for a business to have complaints on them on BBB, so if you mentioned that to Match when you call them (that is if you get to reach them), they might stop pestering you. So the only advice I can think of is, contact BBB, and state your concern and complaint to them. Good luck!
The problem comes when you wish to part company with Match. They have a myriad of ways to hold onto you, well, your money. I cancelled my subscription, or so I thought. No more showers of emails every day. Fast forward 6 weeks and I am informed that Match have taken 2 payments out of my bank totalling £185. I found that even though I had deleted my account that I had not cancelled my subscription, because of course everyone wants to keep paying the exorbitant rates that Match charge when they have no intention of using it. I wound my way to the subscription cancellation page where it told me that I couldn't cancel because that can only happen with 24 hours of the subscription, which was 3 hours ago!
I am very disappointed with having joined a week ago. The matches are not in line with what I have requested on my profile. I have received very little responses from what appears as active prospects. I would like to cancel my membership. I was a member back in 2004 and found it very successful and nothing to compare with my experience this time. I would like my questions answered… Thank you for your time. Terri179
match are very money oriented and there site has its flaws. Not only do you have to pay to subscribe, you have to pay extra if you want to filter who can contact you witch is totally wrong, it should be included as part of your subscription, im getting sick of women outside of my age and country looking at my profile, adding me to faves etc. As others have mentioned there is this new rejection system witch you will get used to getting in no time, it seems theres too many window shoppers or shallow girls, i consider myself to be good looking and a good guy but spend more time talking to myself. This is the last time im going to use the site, im moving on to other dating sites
There’s no sugar coating it, for men you’re going to have a really hard time. The competition is fierce so the amount of women you are going to have message to get any conversations going are insurmountable. This site needs to find a way to level the playing field for everyone. Okcupid has done it to an extent. The six months for free is a start. I bet all men are the ones who get that extra 6 months free.

This site modifies what you write in your profile. Anything critical of the site, or even stating that you won't review matches or attempt to contact people through the site, or that your letting your subscription expire, or a reference to their disillusioning promises, will be deleted. They provide no explanation for their edits, so you have to guess what some nameless faceless person doesn't like. After they edit your writing they post it for the world to see. If you put it back in, they'll delete everything you wrote and replace it with "PROFILE NOT COMPLETE", so you loose all of your work. This statement is unacceptable to them; "I've resolved not to view any more matches or try to contact people on this site, and to let my subscription expire, along with the disillusioning promises." If you have a brain, stay away from this site. Extremely frustrating.
With its useful features, simple navigation, professional layout, and inspirational success stories, it’s easy to see why Match has been around so long. Since 1995, Match has pioneered the online dating industry and forever transformed the dating landscape for singles around the world. Millions of singles have found compatible date prospects and love interests on the site, and we expect it to continue matching people up for decades to come.
An absolutely horrible online dating site...but is there even a good one??? Online dating has become a host for men seeking to lie about who they are and hook a woman into communicating to them for nefarious reasons. It is awful! Have been on for 4 months and I have YET to speak to someone who is not a phony. I have used Been Verified website to check out each one who has tried to get my phone number and not ONE was real??!!! AWFUL! When I reached out to Match.com to tell them each time I have had a phony profile they do not tell me if they even investigate. Sometimes the photo disappears, other times the profile just goes away. They never admit that these men are not legitimate. At least other online dating sites will tell you if they identify a fraud and take him off the site. It think it happens so often at Match.com they do not want to admit they are a haven for fraud. If I could have given them a zero I would. Worse yet they do not respond to their subscribers concerns with an update or any kind of disposition of a case brought to their attention.
In conclusion of the match.com review, every user should understand that setting up a date on this site is quite easy because its compatibility system ensures that you already know quite a lot about each other even before you start chatting and flirting. Therefore, it is quite easy to know if there is a mutual connection between members. Although the number of users on a dating site is not a feature, it is a vital aspect that provides users with more opportunities to meet viable matches. The number of active users translates to the availability of viable dating opportunities. Moreover, the huge number of users attracts more people to try the service. Therefore, a huge user base sure does help.
I joined Match to find my soulmate when I saw match advertisement online showing dream castle of finding your true love. But I found loads of time pass / flirts men or divorced or separated men and Army(retired men) or old UNCLE types of my dad's age started sending messages and chat requests by calling me baby & sweetheart. And All sort of flirting, vulgar & cheap messages like am on some cheap chat or dating site with shameless men around. Many wanted to waste time on dating or chatting nonsense all the time. Most of the men I found here had no Respect for Women and many men here those are separated or divorced men with kids want a women to take care of their kids like a maid. I told same to the site but no response.
Recently, Match launched a feature called Missed Connections, which is an attempt to use technology and its advanced algorithm to help people meet in real life more “naturally.” Users must agree to use geolocation but once they do, the app provides a rather impressive function of showing members others who they have been in the same vicinity with recently. After Missed Connections is activated, members can browse through a personalized recent feed of other Match members they have crossed paths with (who also have Missed Connections activated), based on their current matching criteria and location. Members also get details such as intersection points for your last crossed spot with another member within one block and the number of times that member has crossed paths with you. While geo-locating may deter some users, Missed Connections does offer some much desired benefits in the online dating world, such as giving members natural conversation starters and introducing members to others who may already share similar interests -- for example, they might both go to the same coffee shop every morning because they both love that particular brand of coffee.
Match has just made it incredibly hard to find a "match" via a search. You used to be able to search by various criteria including income. They took that away. As the match customer service rep explained, wealthy men like to date the housekeeping women that work in hotels. I kid you not. It used to be you could search for someone who was on the same level as you, keeping possibilities at a minimum. Now, I get 2000+ matches. WTF...
I have made several attemps, vai phone and email, My account will not allow me to make any changes to my profile. Each attempt, is ask for my passsword, trying every password that I have ever used, I click on, "forgot password", I am prompted to enter my email address for further instructions, I type in my email address, check my emails and there is no mail what so ever, delivered. This has been going on for two weeks. I have made contact, personal, with one of the matches and have ask them if they even see my messages I type on their profile, which they dont. Ive reported this to match, they couldnt fix the issue but my cancellation will not be until the end of my service contract...All I want is my money back. Match.com has the worst customer service out of any company that I have ever dealt with....Stay away from match....
Match.com was established by Gary Kremen and Peng T. Ong in 1993. It was begun as a proof-of-idea for Electric Classifieds which planned to give ordered promoting frameworks to daily papers.
