After sending out 40 or more messages and getting 0 responses, I spent some more money to "ensure that my messages can be read". This pricey little "add-on" allowed me to see if my messages were being delivered and then read (or not). Sadly, I discovered that less than 10% of the messages that I was sending were actually being read; 90% were "delivered" but were NOT being read. This tells me that Match.com has many active profiles with NO active owners. In other words, if you become a member of this dating site, you will find MANY potential matches who might as well be ghosts because the vast bulk of your messages will go unread.

After your picture is added, your profile is submitted to the site moderators for approval and your first set of matches is shown, from which you can check those you are interested in. The approval process is part of Match’s basic system, and something users often get hung up about, although at its core, it’s designed to ensure profiles are real and the site stays clean. Throughout your use of the site new photos and updated profile information in the open-ended sections will have to be approved before it goes live.

Arguably the most recognizable name in online dating today, Match.com has been facilitating dates, relationships, and marriages for the last 23 years. Owned by Match Group Inc (MTCH) which went public two years ago, Match.com has maintained a leadership role through all the ups and downs of the online dating hypes over the last two decades by continually making improvements to better suit users on the site, attracting a wide range of online daters, and focusing on members to optimize the online dating experience.

Match is available in 38 languages and has an active user base in 28 countries worldwide. You can find people of all ages, orientations, and backgrounds on this general dating platform. The dating site has a relatively even split among the genders: 32% identify as millennials, 39% as Gen Xers, and 27% as baby boomers. A strong majority of Match’s user base (84%) has attended college or earned a college degree.
With its useful features, simple navigation, professional layout, and inspirational success stories, it’s easy to see why Match has been around so long. Since 1995, Match has pioneered the online dating industry and forever transformed the dating landscape for singles around the world. Millions of singles have found compatible date prospects and love interests on the site, and we expect it to continue matching people up for decades to come.
The majority of online dating sites only offer an email customer service, but Match.com provides phone and email support. Help services is also available to customers via email, through the online form.  The FAQ page is very comprehensive and one of the best available, where customers can get answers to the most often asked questions about services and general questions about online dating. When we contacted Customer Care, they were very helpful and friendly, and they were very well-informed as they could provide answers to all my questions.
If the continued popularity surrounding Match doesn’t spark your interest, the data the site releases speaks for itself. 38% of members reportedly have had a relationship that started on the site and lasted over a month, much longer than almost any other site, while 33% of Match users report having relationships that last longer than 4 months. Because it’s a paid site, Match may not be on the top of your list of dating sites to try, but if you continue on the online dating route, it’s likely a site you’ll eventually land on.
If you are searching for a serious relationship, or just into some casual dating, the site provides something for everyone. Match.com has seen more dates, relationships and weddings for its single users, than other dating sites online. The site has an excellent success rate and boasts the largest base of paid members than any other online dating site. Operating as many other online dating portals, Match.com has an advantage over others, in that it is highly experienced and widely known in the industry. Standing out from its competitors is due to the fact that Match.com comes with very powerful search technology and provides five match suggestions every day, based on user background information and interests. This site is also among a small handful of sites which provides easy online dating through mobiles, to enable users to search for partners when it is convenient, and while they are on the go.
Recently, Match has implemented innovative Verification tools to allow users to build trust on the dating platform by connecting through a valid social media account. Match will give users a badge that shows up on their profiles if they verify their Facebook accounts, email addresses, phone numbers, Twitter accounts, and other social media profiles. This is a completely optional feature, but it can help you build credibility with potential love interests.
Several packages are offered by Match.com, which include features to suit the needs of the majority of online daters. Users will be able to make comments on photos, to test the waters. This feature is over and above the basic instant chat, private messaging, and sexy winks. There is also an entire range of tools to make your search process so much easier. The site offers a high-quality magazine, and this provides dating advice from Dr. Phil – the one, and only! There is a free membership trial available, but communication features are limited, although this will provide a good idea of which other singles are available in your area. Should you decide to pay for membership, you will appreciate the advantages of being able to contact matches near to you. Offline events also offer a standard bar, with meet-ups at restaurants, together with highly-creative detective meetings, and other events. Match.com manages to create the atmosphere of belonging to a community, despite its high numbers of users.

From 2011 to 2014, a man described by British police as a “sexual predator” contacted thousands of women through the website. He raped five of them. In March 2016 Derby Crown Court heard that four of the victims complained about the man to Match.com; one of the women was told that administrators could not do anything because he had not sent abusive messages through the site.[31][32]
